Does anyone know when Vietnam Airlines first began service to MEL and or SYD?
Thanks for any assistance with this question.
Cheers.

from wikipedia (usual wikipedia caveat applies): early 90s. They're going to be going daily SGN-MEL and daily SGN-SYD next year with A330s.

I knew this was rumoured but I didn't realise this had been confimed. I always felt this was the most logical move especially out of MEL after the 777s were moveed off the route. Is their much cargo on the route? Could we see the 777s back on this route once it has matured at it's daily frequency?

As a side note, what is the product like in their A330s? What are the J-class seats like? Do they have PTVs in Y?

Looks like MELs expansion may not have been enough in the mid to long term. The mid-morning Asian Rush hours are already it's buisiest time, with in sufficient check-in counters at the moment and high gate utilisation. Going to be getting tighter with VN going daily and rumours of KE upping their frequencies too, be interesting to see if GA ups their DPS or GCK to daily too! Not to mention BI starting services, although the new check-in counter and gates 18 and 20 being opened this month will make a big difference. Even post expansion security is still a night mare and don't even mention the customs, arrivals and quarentine halls...
