BHX has today begun to rebrand the airport and with a new logo, corporate branding and remove "International" from their name to be simply known as Birmingham Airport...
The move seems to follow, as the airport is combining both terminals 1 and 2 to create one large terminal complex....
The rebranding seems to be very much focusing on them becoming a major international gateway and offering flights all over the world... It seems to be a move to attract major long haul carriers to the airport and with the new runway extension taking place this will offer the airport non-stop capabilities to major cities in Asia, Western USA, etc...
If airlines want to fly to these destinations from BHX is another question?!
With dominant carriers like EK already serving the airport twice daily with 77W, and offering world wide connections, airlines will be brave to compete against them!

I think it's sort of ironic they dropped "international" from its name while at the same time promoting itself as gateway to the world. Then you have airports in the USA inserting "international" into their names when in reality they have maybe just one destination outside the States, usually being in Canada or the Caribbean.

I don't like it. Reminds me too much of bus station signage, especially with the black background. I liked the previous logo as it almost "glammed up" the airport, but this just looks grubby to me.
I like the idea of removing the "International" though.
