Turkish Airlines started IAD service today. I had the pleasure of seeing flight 007 with their 777-300 land and pull into B-37 as the Fire Department gave them a welcome water cannon salute...TK welcom to IAD, on another note I was looking as I was driving down RT 28 and saw that Aerosur will be serving IAD...Pardon me but i've never heard of them. Does anyone know where they fly and what type of aircraft they will be flying to IAD with? Thanks in advance.

TK's Temel Kotil mentioned serving ATL in 2011. I think it is the add-on that was announced. I doubt it is a nonstop from IST, but you never know with TK.

Aerosur will be flying from VVI to IAD with B762ER type. Service is supposed to start in early December.

They have been advertising this route heavily in DC. I find the ads interesting in that they mention the price for a ticket and say "limit 2 piece of luggage" or something like that in large letters. I don't think most people decide on an airline/trip based on how many suitcases they can pack, so I found this interesting...

Regardless, very happy to see them at IAD and I hope they are here for years to come...

On a related note, does anyone know what the procedure is for diplomatic traffic for foreign airlines? Many serve just JFK or EWR, so I assume diplomatic traffic flies through there and then connects onto DC. Obviously once an airline like TK starts non-stop IAD service the diplomatic traffic will presumably use it...
