Quoting ricardofg (Thread starter): With operated by Sky Regional Airlines titles, and no star alliance logo??
Probably located next to the passenger loading door or will be a decal applied once delivered to Sky Regional.

My understanding is that there will be 5 a/c initially, to operate YTZ-YUL at something like 14-15x daily with reduced frequency on weekends. An additional 3 a/c are reportedly earmarked for YTW-YOW ops in 2011.

Wish I knew the configuration but...
Both Jazz and SkyService Business Aviation went to bidding on this contract for Air Canada and SkyService BAS won out. I guess thats why its not in Jazz colours... Definiately makes for a unique look. I wonder if Jazz will do the QK colors or go for the toothpaste tube look.

Great looking bird. I thought these Q400 were to replace the CRJ100/200 and fly all over the network, not just a few select routes...?

How many -400's did Air Canada order? I thought it was 15, but please correct me if I'm wrong. How many will be operated by Sky Regional, and what will happen with the others (assuming AC did indeed order 15)?

Nice aircraft. I assume Sky Regional Airlines is going to compete with porter on the YTZ-YUL segment? Are there any other routes planned at this point?
Also, are there any information if the interior will feature PTVs, just like the rest of the AC/AC Jazz fleet? Thanks.
Et là tu montes encore plus haut et ça persiste, alors on vole

Quoting yyz717 (Reply 8): Sky Regional won the bid/RFP for YTZ service for AC. Initial route will be YUL-YTZ with 5 Q400's.
Jazz has 15 Q400's on order to replace 15 CRJ1/2 with deliveried to begin in May.
Correctamundo. QK also have 15 options for Q400s. I believe most of the CRJs replaced will be CRJ200 models, as these generally have higher lease costs.
As for the Sky regional configuration, there was some talk, I think on AvCanada, that the YTZ service will be all-J, possibly with as few as 64 seats. I guess trying to build market share with a very big Aeroplan clientele.

These Q400s are the Sky Regional bid planes for AC running YTZ-YUL and YTZ-YOW. Initial flights will be YUL with 15 daily, they are planning to compete with Porter, interior is undetermined but heavy rumours around the office of all J class seats. Goal is to focus on that product as part of the larger picture from AC to provide more point to point service and redirect the main fleet to operate more Transborder and International routes. You'll notice more point to point service in Canada with a reduction at YYZ. This is to reduce the Canadian CNX traffic and augment US cnx's to International and vice versa. Example less YVR-YYZ-YHZ or YUL and more YVR-YHZ and YVR-YUL type flights as an example.
The island helps this and fights Porter, you will see United (Continental Express) coming up to YTZ as well driving the US customers on behalf of Star Alliance and the new AC-UA(CO) partnership for transborder traffic. There may be a reduction out of YYZ for Rapidair, during peak they run every 30min. Depending on the YTZ traffic this may reduce itself out of YYZ freeing up aircraft for the transborder push. But thats traffic dependant.
Q400's for Jazz are for RJ replacement with emphasis in the western part of Canada. Lots of small RJ flights out there that can easily handle Q400 type plane, whereas alot of the RJ traffic out of YYZ is longer range flights such as YQT, YSJ, YYG, YQB. Where out west YYC-YXE, YYC-YLW, YYC-YQR, YVR-YXE, YVR-YLW are all much shorter on range. Thats what I hear around the office, but again that can all change!.

Are they going to run the Q400s YYZ-ATL? Because I seen the Jazz CRJs at ATL

Quoting MattRB (Reply 17): Same colour scheme as the ZX B1900s
Yes it is, and it works well on the 1900 because of the low wing and low engine. Here if you look at it from the side you will see the toothpaste colour and a big dark green blob in the middle. If it was low wing there would be some continuity when seeing it from the side. Would have been better to give the engine the toothpaste treatment as well, like on the mainline jets.

I can't help but feel bad for porter....The Rapidair triangle will now be flooded with even more capacity.....
porter has yet to even make a profit...this could get even uglier...

Ok. Now where is AC and CO going to park these birds for boarding and deplaning. Porter owns the new terminal
at YTZ. And I don't think thew will welcome either one of these airlines operating out their terminal. Correct me
is I'm wrong.

Of course they will. PD hasn't been able to make a profit since its inception, despite holding a monopoly at YTZ. A new revenue stream (gate leases) will be a welcome addition.

Doesn't anybody remember the days of City Express?
Give Air Canada a couple of years and they'll seriously start predatory pricing.
An all J-Class config? For now. Give em a year. Suddenly they'll "discover" a need to offer Y-class for those who are greatly inconvenienced by having to go all the way to YYZ.
This could very well be the death knell for Porter.
