The first line says it all ".....For some of those people, things took an unexpectedly strange, and possibly terrifying, "
now let one of us "normal" flyers try this and the plastic cuffs would be out and we'd be diverted ..... why the kit gloves and no charges against this fool ..... DL you need to control these no talent wannabes ...
I wonder if pax could sue for cruel and unusual punishment....
BTW my vote is for the Progressive girl or Abby from NCIS to do the next Safety Vid .....

I don't like rap/hip hop music or Kanye West. Just a thought here, but perhaps Mr. West was hoping that there would be FBI and PAPD waiting at the gate in New York to arrest him for disrupting the flight? I know that if I for example "hijacked the PA" like that on a commercial flight there would be LE waiting for me at the gate.

Isn't this the brain donor who grabbed the mic from Taylor Swift at some award show to make a fool of himself - and the genius that also stated that Prez Bush jun. sort of let New Orleans go under because of its black population?
Just to be clear on this, I am on the record for never listening to country music and for nominating Dubya as the worst POTUS ever, so if Kanye West annoys me this is solid proof that he is a true pain in the derriere.
Surprised that childish stuff like this is allowed at Delta.

Quoting KL642 (Reply 7): I don't like rap/hip hop music or Kanye West.
KL642 while I don't care for Kanye West or his "music", I don't really think it's all that surprising that you don't like "rap/hip hop". Firstly, the target age group for that kind of music is probably mid-teens to mid-twenties (which I just aged out of). Secondly, I think a lot of people discount all "rap/hip hop" as garbage without even listening to any of it. I was pleasantly surprised finding a few songs I actually liked and had a deep message. While I won't go out of my way to listen to "rap/hip hop" there are certainly elements in the genre worthy of merit.
As far as the situation on the DL flight is concerned... he probably got permission from the crew to use the PA system because his "performance" was met with applause at the end and there was no indication that the crew performed sanctions against him. Secondly, the attendant handset may not be as intuitive to use as a telephone to the layperson, which also suggests crew involvement in this latest Kanye escapade.

It seems i'm one of the few people in this thread who actually enjoys Kanye's music. His fame is not short-lived, he (as far as rap is concerned) tends to be forward thinking and creative. The flashiness - the VMA's and it seems this example - is part of his persona.
In short, he is one of the better rappers around today.

So many haters on this board! This looked like a lot of harmless fun. I'm no big fan of rap, but I would get a huge kick out of a celebrity giving an impromptu private "performance" at 35,000 feet. I highly doubt he "hijacked" the PA, but rather the FA's approached him and asked if he wanted to do a quick performance.
Also, from the video, it seems like this thing lasted all of a few seconds.
