It's interesting to see an airline adding seats/service to an airport with a metro area of less than 100,000 that's also within a 90 minute drive of three other busier regional airports (MLI, CID & MSN), especially in this era of limited domestic expansion. Pax and biz in DBQ must be really utilizing the service, and according to the article, DBQ pax numbers are up 10 percent year/year. I also know that DBQ has been very aggressive about expanding service.

The flight won't be added until April 5.

This is impressive, glad to see this succeeding for AA and DBQ! I would love to see UA get into this mix with a DEN flight...

I really don't see United getting in on anything right now, but it could be something for Republic/Fronter, especially since Republic already cycles crews through DBQ via two American Connection branded flights/day. However, a daily DEN-bound Fronter E-190 along with four AA ORD flights would probably be more metal than DBQ could support without drawing a lot from other airports.

I think the only realistic possibility for additional service out of DBQ would be DL to MSP or possibly DTW with a CRJ-200. The problem is that DL recently left DBQ after serving the city for only 1.5 years with twice daily Saabs. Let's face it, DBQ is destined to be a one airline city until the economy improves greatly..if not forever.

Yeah, I don't think there's much of a chance of DL going back into a small market like that for the third time in less than 10 years, or any other major, but Republic/Frontier is a wild card.

They could maybe get a couple daily Chautauqua flights to MKE. Don't they still fly the ERJ-135s out of MKE?

Yeah, but I think to really have a chance in DBQ against AA, you'd want a westbound/south departure instead of just Milwaukee to differentiate.
