Didn't recognize this 757 using the Spirit Wings call sign, anyone know why they used this sub today?

While I'm assuming one of the A321s is out of commission for some reason, flightaware shows the 757 operating this route since 11/11. I believe NK only has 2 A321s, so if one goes tech their options are a bit limited.

This is not the first time they subbed in a 757 from North American - it showed up here earlier this year or late last year on their behalf as well. NK has also used Sun Country after one of their 319s went out due to a hard landing in DTW.

Yep it happens every year like 3 times.... Good to know we give some
buisness to North America LOL

Subservice is one kind of business that moves a little more to the bottom line of carriers like North American. It's a service that they offer, and are good at. jetBlue called them into service a few years ago during Irops. Their 757s also used to be used by Air Jamaica to sub when their A321s went tech, and also when the 321 didn't have the performance to do certain routes without leaving a semi-trailer-load of luggage behind.

The NA 757 will be flying in place of 587 for another couple of weeks until it's back in service from repairs.

Beltloader was being used as air stairs, but punctured the fuselage - happened about 10 days ago.

This must be confusing for pax though right? I mean if they booked a flight on spirit to go from point A to point B then wouldn't they be confused to see a North American a/c parked at the gate? I'd assume the f/a at the front desk would make an announcement but still, I'd be a little shocked lol.

No more confusing than buying a ticket on DL, UA, CO, AA etc. and getting on a plane operated choose your regional carrier. Some regionals (Skywest) even have their own paint job on planes that they operate for other carriers.

I am waiting for the day that someone walks up to a plane and flies a DL flight operated by Skywest, but has a UA paint job due to equipment swap.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing! It's a bonus if you can fly the plane again!!

Then again, a North American 757 might be a welcome upgrade from one of Spirit's "lavishly" outfitted A32Xs.

I believe it was maintenance staff - either on the last day they were on staff or the day after. I've heard the driver was using both feet on the pedals.

Unfortunately when aircraft are either parked on a hardstand or there's no jetway driver when repositioning the aircraft, the wrong (but not uncommon) practice of improvising to get the tow team off the aircraft with a beltloader is used.

That is the first thing I thought of. I would be very happy with that sub.
