Sorry if this has been discussed already, did a search but came up with nothing...

Flight aware shows flight 8955 MSP-HPN
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL8955
the flight number leads me to believe its a charter flight given the 8XXX flight number and the fact that DL sends no mainline to HPN and has no service to MSP anyway...

Does anyone have any insight as to the reason behind this flight?

I don't know but given the number of sports charters DL flies with the A319 I think I'd give that a look...

DL has no service in MSP? What happened to all those former NW routes out of MSP?

Could be an NHL charter, maybe?

NHL charter flight for the New York Rangers I bet. They played Colorado a few days ago and Minnesota last night.

I think he was referring to HPN having no service to MSP...

why would the rangers fly into HPN? wouldn't LGA or TEB make a little more sense?

off topic but i thought they stopped practicing in playland?

if they still practice in westchester does that mean they usually fly into HPN?

IIRC, both the Knicks and Rangers moved to their new facility in Greenburgh a few years ago.

Interesting that they both practice in Westchester.

I do recall NW flying HPN-MSP with DC-9 service in the past.

I don't recall the 9 on it, but there was an RJ85 for a long time. Word was that the Mesaba CEO used it frequently to commute from his home in Westchester....

It was a -9 before the ARJ, but yes Paul Foley used to commute on this flight regularly. DTW-HPN was regularly a -9 and then the ARJ, and now all CRJ.
