I watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for the first time in years tonight, and paid special interest to the short airport scene when Burl Ives (Big Daddy) lands in his private Twin Beech 18. In the background are a number of piston Douglas Aircraft that appear to be predelivery. I could definitely make out an Eastern DC-7B, an Eastern DC-6B (one of the few Eastern leased), what appears to be a Sabena DC-7C, and a United airplane, either a DC-6B or DC-7, all parked in front of what seems to be a large factory. Was that scene filmed at LGB or at Clover Field in Santa Monica? If it was filmed at LGB, where the Douglas props flown over there for final fittings like Boeing did with Renton built aircraft that were then flown to BFI before delivery?
