I was curious to know if a 757 could fly from Belo Horizonte (CNF) to New York, and discovered that the maximum range of the 757 is 7222 km, so how did they fly from Mexico City to São Paulo, if the distance between these cities is 7438km?

AM 018 - 752 was route flown as LAX-MEX-LIM-GRU with 5th freedom rights on the LIM-GRU-LIM sector. At the time Varig was the dominant carrier on the route flying nonstop with DC-10s, 767s, and MD-11s. In 2000, AM lost the 5th freedom rights on the LIM-GRU sector and started flying the route nonstop and I believe it was then that they switched to a 767. At the time, MX also flew the longest 757 route which was the MEX-CUN-EZE flight.

I remember very well they flying 757 to GRU, alternating with 777 and 767, well before the VARIG demise, in 2008, or something about that, so this time they didn´t have the LIM rights anymore, so I don´t know if the planes used to make a stop in these flights

I am not sure there were 752s left in AM's fleet in 2008; I seem to recall they were retired before '08. I think MEX-GRU has been non-stop for many years, so I don't think there has been a mixed-757-767-777 MEX-GRU operation.
