I just flew with Transat to Punta Cana last week and on the return visit, i was delighted to see C-FTNG with a ton of brand new seats. It looked very sharp inside. My question is, if they did this refurbishment, are the planning on keeping this a/c much longer?? Also, is this one of the older L-1011's that they operate?? I would appreciate any feedback!!!!!

That is a good question, I know that they are fixing up a few, and using to others as parts. I hope that they do, I like spotting them when I am playing golf at my course. They look cool and I can impress a lot of people with my little knowledge.

C-FTNG was manufactured in 1973 and is the fourth oldest L-1011 in Air Transat's fleet of 15 x L-1011s (including the -500).

Who cares? Tristars are THE coolest plane. It makes me happy to know that these planes are still in the air.

Folks,

Considering the date of manufacture, C-FTNG is an old plane. However, it was acquired by Air Transat in the mid-1990's.

B-HOX,

As far as I know, Air Transat did not lease any L-1011 from Air Canada or Cathay Pacific. They do operate numerous former AC and CX examples - but all these were purchased.
