Starts June 2nd 2011 and twice per week. Begins with A320 family. Was suspended in 2000.

I still remember their A320s and A310s at TXL. Great they are coming back.

Can't wait until it starts.

This is a good move in light of AB's coming accession to oneworld. AB can bring in feed from all over Germany and many places in Europe (and in fact RJ seems to be banking on this).

From the press release:

"The RJ president mentioned that once Air Berlin joins the oneworld airline alliance, set for early 2012, RJ passengers will be able to continue their flights beyond Berlin in the European continent."

Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

The question is: Which other OW carriers are going to fly to Berlin because of their new ally?

Not too many in the short run, but more at a later stage:

- AA (with 763, then 789) from ORD
- CX (359)
- JL (763, then 788)

Well, a number of them already serve TXL: BA, MA and AY.

I think S7 will start serving Berlin soon.

AA is highly likely, but I'm not convinced that JL and CX will come in. Possible though.

LA, QF and MX (assuming they survive) are highly unlikely to serve TXL, with or without AB.

What makes me think of JL and CX is that OW current hubs at LHR and MAD are located too much further West, so not very ideal for connections to/from most European destinations, not to mention congestion at LHR.

QF is another story indeed.
