Hi all,
Can anyone tell me why AC doesn't fly regularly to Schiphol? KLM flies multiple times daily with large a/c to YYZ, YUL, YYC and YVR. In summertime there is also Air Transat to various destinations. There is a lot of VFR-traffic between the Netherlands and Canada. Surely they could fill a daily B763 to YYZ, esp. given all the connection opportunities thoughout Canada and the US? Why do they leave the Dutch market alone? Thanks!

While I don't know the 'real' reason, one reason I saw tossed around on another thread was that we (AC) are focusing on Star Alliance in Europe versus competing in a Skyteam one.
That and while the loads might be great, the yield might not be so great.
That is just my opinion, I have no idea if those are real reasons or not.

Somewhere in 2006/2007 they stopped flying to AMS. They flew the route with a 767 and if I recall correctly it was only a seasonal service. They opted to funnel passengers bound for AMS via LHR and FRA with Star Alliance partners BD and LH. I do not know if they have any plans to reopen AMS in the future.

The only reason I can see is because of the Star Alliance. Brussels give a lot of opprtunities with SN Brussels to Africa.
Francfort is the tie with Lufthansa. Paris and London are the main European airports for historical reason for so long.

With the limited supply of aircraft available, AC sees more benefit in taking on new routes where it has little to no competition and good feed at either end. AMS just doesn't fit the bill.

Not enough demand for two carriers and especially that they can direct pax via several other cities (LHR, FRA, CPH, BRU or DUS) together with STAR partners.
