MS has been expanding in Africa for quite some time now, much longer than mere weeks.

Depends. MS is a gateway to North/West Africa if you're coming from the Middle East/India/the Far East, and Central/Southern Africa if you're coming from Europe/the Middle East. CAI is well positioned to capture numerous travel flows.

The Airline has announced long time ago that their expansion in Africa was "strategic" , they were waiting for the arrival of more A/C to announce their plans in Africa . They currently fly to 17 cities in Africa and are expected to double that in 5 years

Egyptair carries a lot of connecting traffic between South Africa/East Africa and Europe/Asia . And they are expecting that within 5 years 30-40% of their operation will be connecting traffic .
