Alitalia actually operated Embraer 145 (48 seats) and ATR-72 (66 seats). Then they have A320/200 (131 C/Y) or Mdd-82 (133 C/Y). So they have a big gap from 66 seats to 131. Also they have 12 A319 on order.
They told they want a 80/90 seats plane.
So which plane do you think they will buy??
The possible options are:
A318 (it's A320 family, so they can have some economy)
B717 (Some part of this plane are building from Italian Alenia factory and they can use on the some Mdd-80 pilots)
EMB-170//190/200 (from 70 to 100 pax)
EMB-190/100 (90 pax)
Avro ARJX-85 (probably the cheapest for 85 pax and can be used in some difficult airports like Florence and London City)
I think they will buy EMB-190/100.
What do you think??

The prices I have show the ARJX-85 at 27 million US-$ and the ERJ-190-100 at 26. However these prices are not the newest ones.
I suppose this decision will be based on the BA/QF fleet decision as they will show if the wider configuration (5 seats) or the more marrwo one (4 seats) is prefered. As usual we should see them evaluating the ARJX-85/100, the ERJ-170/190-100, the CRJ700 and 900 and the 728/928JET. But so far I don´t think that they have a big preference.

I think they will wait one more year before place an order. But they seem happy of their new EMB-145 so why not buy the new EMB-190.
My favourite is ARJX-85

AZ already flies the AR7 and AR8 (operated by AzzuraAir).
They also used to fly the Fokker-70, but we all know what happened to Fokker. So why did they sell them? I think KLM and Malev payed very much for Alitalia's Fokkers, because Fokker went bankrupt before they could deliver all of KL's and MA's orders.
Btw the ERJ is the worst aircraft I've ever seen - cramped, noisy, high fuel-consumption, ... Did you know that on every Crossair ERJ, there is 200kg of ballast in the hold? The galley in the front is too heavy, so you need ballast. Very impractical, I'm sure you would agree.
