I don't know if ABJ is closed, but the issues surrounding the recent Ivoirian election have made the situation very unstable:

I would not be surprised if the airport had been occupied by one of the factions.

Public service announcement: "It's" = "it is". To indicate posession, write "its." Looks wrong, but it's correct grammar

As of last night all the borders were closed as well as the airports,

" l'armée a annoncé la fermeture de toutes les frontières de la Côte d'Ivoire. « Les frontières terrestres, aériennes et maritimes du pays sont fermées à toute circulation de personnes et de biens à compter de ce jeudi » à 20 heures"

Is there news when it might re-open?

Any big impact for AF or other airlines?

From the Brussels Airlines website:

Political situation in Ivory Coast:

Due to the post-election political situation, the Ivory Coast airspace is closed until Sunday 05/12 included. Therefore all our flights to/from Abidjan are cancelled until 06/12 included.

Passengers booked on flights to and from Abidjan up to and including 6 December are offered the possibility to be rebook to a later date free of charge or to request a refund free of charge.

Rebooking / requesting a refund can be done at the Brussels Airlines ticketing desk at the airport, our Customer Contact Centre in Brussels (tel. +32 (0)2 723 23 62) or via your local travel agency. Your reservation cannot be changed/refunded online.

Brussels Airlines is closely monitoring the situation and will update its webpage with new information as soon as it becomes available.
