I've always wondered why OZ only has ONE daily flight to JFK and they operate it with a daily 772, whereas KE has 2 daily flights on a 77W and a 744? I believe there is enough traffic to ICN and a lot of the passengers connect to different parts of Asia, so can OZ do a double 772 to JFK? Nearly all of their flights during the summer are always sold out so I think they need more flights to JFK, but do they have enough A/C for it? Plus OZ recently changed their flight to a less desiring daylight flight , OZ 221 now leaves JFK at 1PM, meaning it arrives at ICN late at the afternoon, meaning connecting passengers to China and other parts of Asia will arrive at their final destination late at night or they might even have to stay overnight. (OZ 221 used to arrive at ICN @3AM and most flights to Asia leaves in the morning) Plus, how is KE doing with their double daily flights?

Asiana is a small'ish airline especially compared to Korean Air.
For instance, LAX their largest US mainland station has 2 dailies, while Korean Air manages 5 dailies.
So having a single flight at JFK is not that unusual for OZ.

KoreanAir/Asiana is similar to BA/VS situation - one's the 800 lb old school gorilla, one's the cute newcomer but still lean and mean
Another possible reason is that KE dominates that part of the world for SkyTeam, so they can grab all the feed they need, while as Asian has to compete with the super-princess ANA as well as the intruder SQ and ugly-step-sister AirChina
