With all the airline merging happening, would a fully merged airline consider doing two retro livery. For say Delta; would they consider doing one for pre delta and northwest?

US Airways did this with its series of retro liveries for PSA, Piedmont, Allegheny, and the two America West liveries.

I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

Rumor at CO is that the retro 737-900 will stay and UA is doing their own retro A320, so I would imagine the two will be floating around the system post-merger.

I wish Delta would do a livery to celebrate the merger. Basic Delta scheme with NWA silver instead of white and a red compass in there somewhere - would look top notch!

I've flown on 9V-SPK.

This would be a too expensive paint livery to apply. It would take several coats of clear coat over the silver and Delta probably would not like to spend the money. I wished Delta had decided to use the silver paint instead of the white.
It would look much better and not show dirt as much as the white.

UA is doing their own retro A320,

Please let it be the orange-red-blue stripe design

There is another thread on that subject right now. UA is putting the "Stars and Bars" paint job on an A320.

That's actually great that the new united is keeping continental's retro and doing one of their own. I think delta should follow. Even though an airline may be gone a retro may keep the memories alive.

I would hope that each company that has been through a merger would recognize each of the two's main liveries from the past. At my own company, I think it would be wonderful to see them do all of CO's previous liveries from Bob Six through to the Globe on a B737NG and in the case of UA do the same from the start through to the pre-merger blue on-blue on- blue on an A320. I think it would make the employees of the combined company proud of their heritage and help to bring a bond among then all. While I doubt such an idea would be cost effective, it really would give all of us airline geeks and a few of current employees a huge smile on their face.

Heres to wishful thinking, boys!
