I wonder what this new planes will be... Are the 787s included here?

My other plane is an A380.

Funny how the article title says a billion pesos (mil mdp) but the text says a billion dollars. A billion pesos is what, $5 usd nowadays?

Don't think that includes 787s, unless they ordered more. Probably more 738s and T7s

I sure hope they're talking USD..... 1 billion pesos would buy you a second-hand regional jet.

I read an article last week about this, they seemed to be interested in single aisle mostly and 4-5 long haul. If I find the article I'll post it...

Sounds like AM is more than ready to send those MDs and 767s to the desert

According to CNNexpansion, the first aircrafts (3 767 + 1 777) are expected to be delivered within the first half of 2011.

Tres de ellos serían del tipo Boeing 767 y uno Boeing 777. Normalmente este tipo de aeronaves suele emplearse para vuelos transoceánicos y para algunas rutas que la empresa tiene a Sudamérica.

I hope its not the Boeing 737. Its just that im not a big fan of the Boeing 737s. I did like the AeroMexico 757..those were nice planes. Boeing 737s are the only aircraft they operate to the JFK from MEX, but sometimes the B767. I wish they can switch over to the B757 again. It would be nice or operate the B787 to NYC.

Bring JetBlue To Mexico City! (TLC and/or MEX would be great)

Sorry to say, but I think more 737-800s would be ideal for increased Mexico-US flying.

I loved the 757 on Aeromexico colors, but obviously those days are long gone...an old wish of mine was that AM would order the 757-300, but that never happened, besides the 737-800 was a great choice

the 737-800 is a perfect fit for high density routes like JFK, MIA, LAX and MIA....The sooner AM reduces their fleet to 737s, 777s and 787s, the better.. the 767s are going to play an important role until the 787s get there, whenever that happens to be....

as for AM connect, looks like they're going to stay with Embraer for the long run

Right now, most U.S. flights are flown with the 73G and not the 73H. You see the 73H going to JFK a lot on a consistent basis compared to all their other U.S stations.

are these 3 767s new ones? I think not, there is no sense in ordering new ones if they have 787s on their horizon, but used 767s would make sense as a interim solution until the 787s

Interesting. Anybody has an idea on how the long haul fleet will look for 2011? Are the 767s 200 or 300? I'm guessing the latter. Will they return any of the aircraft currently in the fleet?

Great to see AM has gotten ahold of their labour finances before something a la MX happens to them!
Congrats!

Negative!! Seems MD80s will go by the end of 2011.

There are no cheap replacement. Maybe they'll end up getting some old Boeing 737-700s.

Yes, today:

04xB762 (JBC, OAM, TOJ, AMX)
02xB763 (APB, MAT)
04xB777 (N745/746/774/776AM)

By 2011

05xB762 (JBC, OAM, TOJ, XXX, XXX) XA-AMX will go. Most likely XA-TNS as soon as it ends it lease with Avianca it might return, most likely will return to the fleet.

03xB763 (APB, MAT, XXX)

05XB777 (N745/746/774/776AM + XXXXXX)

The interesting thing is where will they get that 5th 777. In total, 08xB767s + 05xB777s.

I just keep asking, cargo, WHEN?

AM should convert at least JBC and TOJ which are old 767s and start moving cargo.

Clearly they are talking USD. The title of the first article that was quoted had a mistake. And for the record, a billion pesos (which is expressed as "mil millones de pesos" in Spanish language due to different rules of naming numbers in Spanish vs. other languages) equals 81 million dollars at the current exchange rate.

Not going to happen IMHO.

And the -900ER would probably be too.

I dunno what loads and yields to MIA look like, but I agree that the -800 is better than the -700 for the MEX-JFK and MEX-LAX flights. Maybe SFO and on some days/season ORD would be better served by the -800 than the -700.

I believe 5D is going to be an all-Embraer operation. The interesting thing is that AM wants to swap some 145s for more 190s... this is definitely very good news.

I think MEX-JFK is an all-738 route, except for the odd 767ER that can be seen doing this route every now and then.

I agree with you; we are on the same page.... unless Boeing has an interesting offer for them... I am just saying, I have absolutely no information.

Oh wow, Ghost, thanks. So there are 2 extra 767-200ERs and 1 extra 767-300ER arriving? I wonder if the 77E will be brand new... That'd be awesome.

If XA-TNS returns from AV, that would be 6 762s then, right? AM... please add some more MAD, SCL and PVG frequencies and make BCN daily!!! Oh, and make one of the daily flights to JFK a 767 flight!!! That is my list to Santa. I don't know what you guys think, but AM should seriously consider (i) getting a sixth or even a sixth and a seventh triple 7 so it can turn EZE, GRU and CDG into all-777 routes; and (ii) getting 787-900s instead of or in addition to the 787-800s because those planes would offer longer range (comes in handy for the Asian flights) and a comparable number of seats as the 777 (which would give AM a newer and more economical type of plane).

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).
