Personally, I don't think it's that big of a deal, but a big complaint of A.nutters about AA's web site has long been that it doesn't have an interactive route map.
Well, for those of you dying to see it, here it is.

Ehhhh... I've just spent a bit of time playing with it and am more frustrated than pleased. But I'll give it a bit more time before I decide it it's thumbs up or down.

I played around with it a bit, surprised to find that the map could not offer a STL-NCL option. Maybe because its a two connection option with BA (and I included the "show partners" option on the search).
It DID however, show STL-LAX-LHR as an option for STL-LHR.

Finally! Now AA is catching up with the times! Now I can tell where they fly nonstop from any airport and can see that STL and BOS are not hubs for them (not that I didn't know already, but the last map showed otherwise). I started a thread not too long ago asking why their route map was so bad and most people seemed to agree that there is a reason why other airlines have been upgrading their route maps but we didn't really know why. Now that reason will be fulfilled.

It's a start! I dislike how it shows there's a flight route from DFW to Lima, which has been axed, then populates "1-stop via Miami" without having a checkbox option to show only nonstop flights.

Too long to load, doesn't have a non-stop feature. For a second I thought they flew SAN-MFE non-stop, but the lines are the same color as non-stop ones and a little pop-up says it's 1 stop.

Guys... it's actually really simple to use... It has TONS of filter options to "see" what you want... it even has "settings" on how you want the lines drawn... straight, curved, or great circle.... as to the non-stop option.. It would be nice.. but it's still easy to see.. all you do is in the right-side pop up.. just display it by "number of connections"... non-stops will be listed first...
You can also click the link to have a bigger map.. makes it MUCH easier to view it all and play with it!
AA just made the best interactive route map in my opinion!!!

Try flights out of NRT... you'll notice that Boston is listed first, even though it's a 1-stop
this map looks identical to the one DL is using
both looks like they rank destinations alphabetically (not by proximity or hub-status)

It is identical to Delta's (same company) but the presets are not set up correctly. Setting a default that makes the map incapable of displaying routes on a route map is sort of silly.

Ummm... you're not using it right...
If you want to see the non-stops first... you get rid of the checks on the left for "AA Connections" and "AA Partners"...
then it does show BOS as first with 1 stop.. but above the list on the upper right there is a drop down box... Open that and change it to "Sort by number of stops"...
it readjusts the list for you to non-stops first....
Again guys, this does not take rocket science to figure out... it is really really good at what it does.. the errors you guys are complaining about are IO errors.. not programming... although I would like an easier non-stop display option.. it's easy to get it to show what you want if you ask it to show you what you want correctly.

The best option to see AA real non-stop flights is looking at the OneWorld route map, which is updated every week: http://bit.ly/9c8LAe
On the left you select "American Airlines", you check "non-stop flights only", and that's it. For example, it shows SSA as a non-stop flight but not REC, which is via SSA.
For me, it would have better if AA used the OneWorld map but only with the AA data. Both have been made by the same company, so I guess they are different because of the preferences AA has chosen.

So I have to ask who is populating this?? I did a quick check for non stops out of CMH and it shows CMH-ORD, DFW, MIA, NYC - cool - right, but the surprises where AUS, SAT, and LAX... out of surprise checked the June schedules and none of these exist - is there some serious expansion planned? or is there a major bug?

Anyway, it shows LAX to UIO as a single route... oh, BTW, via MIA. Small detour...

Agree with AeroSafari, it does look very much like the US site, but is a much needed improvement from the old one where STL and BOS were both still listed as hubs, if I'm not mistaken.
Also, did anyone else notice the thread starter call us A.nutters? What are you trying to say man? LOL, just kidding. Happy holidays everyone! Travel safe and on time!
