I just noticed that for the last two weeks of December, LH will temporarly cease flying MIA-MUC on Friday, only to resume 5x weekly service in January. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this, is LH sacrificing an aircraft for some other route during these upcoming two weeks?

It is not operating on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. There's your explanation.

I know but why? All other European carriers are operating on that day, plus how are the loads on that flight this winter? I remember it being pretty full back in June.

Because it is Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve - that is why.

Lufthansa already has three other flights to Miami that day, all other European carriers don't.

So LH does not fly on New Years or Christmas, since when has this been happening?

Flights to Europe are empty on Christmas Eve and New Year's. Lufthansa has four flights to MIA on Fridays. It makes perfect sense to not operate one of those.

Many airlines do not operate many flights on these two days, especially trans-Atlantic flights. Miami flights tend to operate because there is a lot of tourist traffic, but you'll find many trans-Atlantic cancellations all over.

You are thinking way too much into this.

Loads are extremely bad these two nights, for all flights, to all regions of the world (ex USA)

Well my BA flight on 31st of December (landed 1st of January) from LAX to LHR was jam packed?

Great.

Still doesn't mean that all other transatlantic flights were full.

They do operate flights on Christmas and New Years, but on a reduced schedule because the demand isn't there on these two days.

It may have been packed, but I'm sure the yields were pretty bad.

Exactly, full plane does not mean anything, and these dates will have next to no business travelers.
