I think that is his question. It sure doesn't look like any DC-6B I have ever seen.

Perhaps a Boeing Stratocruiser ? Round windows, for one thing. Wing looks to be shoulder-level as well from p.o.v. of window.

Check out the name of the addressee on the first day cover envelope. The guy's name is Ford Studebaker. What a cool name, especially if you were a car buff. He probably drove a Chrysler!
