According to the GDS, EY will replace the Daily A345/A346 service with a B77W thus eliminating F class on AUH - ORD from 1st August 2011. A346s seat 286 pax and the B77W will have around 440 passengers.
Other changes include:
* AUH - BOM will get First class from 1st Jan 2011 on a consistent basis with a daily 3 class A332 from 1st Feb 2011
* AUH - DAC will be a mix of B77W and A332 as opposed to daily A332 from IATA S11.
* AUH - NRT will switch from daily A332 to daily A345.
* AUH - PEK - NGO to go from 5 weekly to daily in IATA W11

Interesting. I live in AUH, and mostly envision connecting coach pax from ORD on the nonstop. I have only taken their JFK flight though. I am sure EY does well on ORD. I don't believe any other Persian Gulf carriers fly there. Excuse me, in these parts they say "Arabian Gulf." I can see the need for more coach seats and fewer premium seats.

The 2011 delivery B77Ws will be 3 class, so F will remain on the ORD route.

Quoting mogandoCI (Reply 8): Both seatexpert.com and seatguru.com show a 378-pax config for EY's 77W... is this 440-pax thing new? that must feel like sardine class
you need to pack 3-4-3 in economy with 30" pitch plus some 2-4-2 so-called business class seat in order to have a 2-class config on the 77W
I believe the 378 configured 77W is the three class configuration that Etihad is taking delivery of soon. Though to compensate for the added First Class cabin, the've gone 3-4-3 in Economy. 440 is on the two class bird.

AUH - ORD will be a 2 class operation only.

hmmmm that's a pretty high density if it's 378 for 3-class.... these days most carriers' 744 don't even haev 378 in a 3-class config... the 77W averages 280-320 i think

Is EY having a hard time filling the premium seats? Their 77Ws only offer 28 seats in Business Class. That's pretty light in terms of premium seating. Any additional insight?

Probably so. Business O&D from Chicago to Abu Dhabi is likely pretty light. This isn't IAH-DXB, where the front cabins go out full twice a day. This flight is clearly geared toward connecting pax, most likely VFR to the subcontinent and southeast Asia.

While I do like the the sight of a 77W over the A34X, it is too bad they cut the F. I was wanting to take a flight on the ORD-AUH route, but with 10 across Y, might not want that. 440 also on a 77W seems a bit cramped for my style, might need to find a reason to go out there before August.

This route is currently operated 5x weekly. So will it receive an upgrade and increase in frequencies or either or?
AUH-PEK-NGO to daily? That would be wonderful news for us on the NGO side!!! I hear its currently hard for pax to get seats on these flights because there are many pax flying PEK-AUH.

378 is the two class 77W. Three class config will have lower seats than that.
If EY did seat 440 on two class, you'll bet that EK would have done that. Even EK manages only 364 pax in the three class 77W.

David, sorry my bad. Should've checked before posting. I thought the EK 77W was limited to 424. But nevertheless, a 400+ pax 77W likely cannot make UAE-ORD anyway.

Etihad's B77W's have been reconfigured to 412 from 378 so no idea where a 440 number has come from.
Next years 2 new B77W will be 2 class and 412 configuration.
B77W to Chicago is NOT confirmed even though it may appear in some system. During the winter the B77W could comfortably fly AUH-ORD but if the flight is not re-timed from what it is now then the flight will have problems in the UAE summer.
The B77W is scheduled to continue to MAN in the northern 2011 summer schedule.
Even now the 2011 summer schedule has not been finalised so nothing is written in stone yet,

Bit off topic but there does seem to be a movement to "packing 'em in". Those who are suggesting that the next 77W revamp will have thinner walls so that 10 across can be accomodated with "standard" 17 something" seats may well be on to something. Looks like the future for poor old (like me) "Y" class! Certainly will (in general) be the same (9 across) for the 787 too. This is not really (10 across) a trick that the 350 can play interestingly enough.(well can with 16" seats- But !!)
25 KFlyer: Ejazz, could you please share the details of the new config with us ? Can't see it at any of the seat map sites.
26 ojas: Sorry for the confusion. The new configuration of EY's B77W is 412 seats (28/384) http://www.etihadairways.com/sites/e...perienceetihad/Pages/OurFlee
27 airlinefreak1: Thanks for the info guys That's great news that MAN might go 12 weekly ! Any idea about the timings of the second flight. ? Loads to MAN must be doing
28 LondonCity: KL's 77Ws accommodate 425 pax in a two-class layout (including Economy Comfort as the seating here is also 3-4-3 with the same legroom as Y).
29 david_itl: Got it wrong. Its on the MAN website in the timetables now: From 1st August: EY15/16 operates Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sun. Arr = 0615 dept 0925. This is
30 Viscount724: [/quote] Not the same legroom. Economy Comfort seats are 34 inch pitch, 3 inches more than the 31 inch pitch in the rest of the Y cabin. The whole poi
31 GlobalCabotage: ORD-AUH gets a ton of low yielding traffic to the sub-continent area. 77W makes sense for this route, but as mentioned above, how will this work in AU
32 ojas: Typo over here, it is 5 weekly and not daily.
33 777way: EY Cargo have launched freighter service to Kochi, India.
34 TurkishWings: EY's AUH-IST flights are showing A 330-200 as of end of April.. Can anyone confirm? Is this change seasonal?
