Air China To Become Double Daily To LAX

Effective September 1, 2011, Air China will double its LAX services per the following schedule.

CA987 PEK-LAX 1400-1100 B74E *new flight
CA983 PEK-LAX 2355-2055 B744
CA984 LAX-PEK 0140-0520 B744
CA988 LAX-PEK 1320-1700 B74E *new flight

Additionally as part of the change, current CA983/984 service will be upgauged from 744 Combi to full Pax.

schedules loaded in GDS already.

Nice to see them increase flights to LAX. They will also soon start flying the 77W to LAX as well, probably before the end of 2011. There were rumors that CA would fly the 787 here when they started to get them but the 787 seems to be getting more and more delayed....

Yeah China has come a long way.
Maybe I date myself, but I recall when CAAC first commenced service to LA in the mid 1980s using a 747SP via SFO once weekly on Fridays. If the flight had 40-passengers that was considered a monumental success. Often there were more crews onboard than pax. And for cargo, what cargo.
