Looks like LH is again changing its winter schedule, MIA-MUC seems to be down to 4x weekly for most of February and into March. Whats with LH constantly changing its schedule every week, is this change a result of too much cpompetition entering the Miami market this winter season? At this point i wonder how will this flight fare in the summer when TP and KL come in.

May I just ask where you got your information?
Are you just looking at LU.com? When I go to LU.com to book It shows flights availible 5 days a week. With no MUC-MIA on Mondays and Saturdays.

If this is true I would assume its just winter reductions and nothing more. I would think it will pick up agian this summer.

I got the info from Orbitz and LU.com. The reductions is only for February mostly, in March it will be back to 5x weekly. I still dont know why they do it are they sacrificing aircraft for another route.

I thought this route was going to 7 x weekly flights, or is that for next winter?

I doubt LU would cancel a flight only two months in advance that does not make much sense unless very few people bought tickets. Maybe A. This was always planned due to fleet problems etc.. or B. The flights are sold out so they are not showing on the web.

At the open of summer season, LH will operate dual aircraft in the MUC - MIA route. Three times a week with Airbus A330-300 and two times a week with Airbus A340-300.

Teorically, UN will stop direct services on March 26, 2011.

No, it won't. UN has not loaded its summer schedule for MIA or JFK, but intends year-round service to both.

Well if SU comes to Miami like you suggested then UN will certainly not be back this summer.

Better get used to this.
As an investor, I would appreciate such business practices. It means an airline is running a tight ship and constantly looking for efficiencies.
DL is king at this. UA is starting to do it more and more.
Gone are the days of just plainly following daily schedules.

Forecasting and making adjustments where warranted is a good thing.

Talking about new routes to MIA, I wasn't aware TP will start flights to MIA too. I didn't see that coming, is there enough demand from Portugal to MIA and/or Florida?

TP starts service on June 6th with 4X weekly service to LIS. Apparently the demand was enough to start this route. I dont know what impact this will have on IB or AE.

Well it happened last winter with the MIA-DUS service. It started out 7x weekly but was further reduced to 5x weekly for the rest of that winter. Maybe MIA cannot sustain all this LH service and LH had to cut back, who knows?! Looks like the last week of January MIA-MUC reduced to 3x weekly and then back to 4x weekly the next week and then back to 5x weekly the week after that. Strange!!

Strange!!

Nothing strange about that. As pointed out to you above already, it is merely adjusting capacity to demand. We will see much more of that in years to come. The days that airlines used to fly widebodies with 50 pax over the Atlantic during the February low season are behind us.

Exactly, and at the same time using the low season for aircraft base maintenance, cabin enhancements, etc...
