SEA In The 1990s, And Earlier... Photos?

Hey everyone!

I spent a great deal of my childhood flying through SEA from 1994-2001, and have developed so many memories of flying through there. I was wondering if anyone happened to have interior photos of what the inside of the concourses looked like back then, and anytime earlier. I would absolutely love to revisit those memories by seeing photos of what the interior of the concourses looked like back then... and seeing some of the stuff I never got to see, like what the old Concourse A looked like on the inside and outside before it was remodeled and rebuilt, and what the Concourse B, C, and D looked like before they were remodeled in the early 90s.

If anyone can post any photos at all of the Main Terminal and Concourses in SEA from the 1990s and earlier, and share some memories, I would absolutely LOVE it! I'm feeling particularly nostalgic right now, and I really miss the days of NW DC-10s and 747-200s, DL widget 767s, 757-heaven, 727s, UA's focus city/dominance of the N Satellite, widebodies, Aeroflot, SAS, Fokkers, Dash 8-100s/-200s, Hole-in-the-wall charters, etc.

Cheers!
Anthony/Airport

Outside of some subtleties like rearranged security, new art and new restaurants, not a whole lot has changed in S, N, B, C and D concourses. Many of the significant upgrades occurred at the main terminal portion (food court) and Concourse A. I believe AS/QX have been in C and D concourses forever. There's been a lot of shuffling of airlines between A and B concourses. One notable airline movement was AA's move from C to A. AS is gradually taking over the N-gates, but UA, UA Express and Air Canada still fly out of N-concourse. Since the DL/NW merger, DL has moved to the S-gates. I think the next big moves will be UA moving out of N-gates (probably to be co-located with CO in B-concourse); AS upgrading and taking over the N-gates; AS moving out of D-concourse. Where will WN go??? D-Concourse????

Yeah, if you want to see what pre-renovation decor was like, just check out the North or South Satellite, or the baggage claim area. I spent a lot of time flying USAir out of the old Concourse A in the 90s, and it was a dump.

Nope; word on the street is CO will join UA in N.

Word on the street from Alaska would not agree with that. The folks at AS are planning on taking over the N gates and building a Board Room on the roof. AS has wanted to move out of the D gates into N for a LONG time. Where would CO even be able to even join UA in N? Have you seen how much of the concourse that AS has taken up? I heard the new UA was moving to the A gates, just yesterday. There is even space in the vacated Admirals Club and former Crown Room Club for the new "United Club."

That kind of makes sense since the only widebody gates on the A-concourse is at the far south end. HA could move back into the B-gates, along the Jetblue and Virgin America. Frontier already partially uses a B-gate for one of their morning flights.

That would probably mean that some airlines now at the A-gates will have to move to the B or D concourses. I can still see WN moving over to the D-concourse, along with AirTran (afterall, they are hitched). Others that could move could include AA (I know...they were at C).

It will be interesting to see where airlines play musical "gates."

Thanks for the info, it's interesting to hear about what'll happen in the future. Unfortunately, that's not what the thread was about.

Does anyone have any photos of what the concourses looked like in SEA in the 1990s and earlier? I know generally what it looked like, because much of the interior has stayed relatively the same, but it'd still be neat for me to see, for example, the old A gates on the inside, or to see what it looked like when C1, and C3 were still around. If anyone happens to have any photos, I would hugely appreciate it!

Cheers!

It is wonderful that those places are kept the way they are, definitely one my favourite places to be!
Thought it would be quite interesting to see what the other concourses looked like back in the day rather than having to imagine it. It's too bad I can't find any pictures..
