Oh wow the reason I asked is that am a regular flyer into Las Vegas, I always do it with Virgin (VS043/44) from Gatwick in PE is this BA 744 arrangement going to stay or is it just seasonal?? Virgin's 747-400s are a lot newer and the PE product is awesome especially as the PE cabin is in the upper deck too..

BA's daily LHR-LAS-LHR will move to a B744 on June 1,2011. This is not a seasonal change.

Am loving the sound of that then wow will be good to see at least 3 747 400's at LAS now the

1) KOREAN
2) VIRGIN
3) BA

We jet off to Las Vegas in Sept/Oct time it tends to get dark round 5-6 pm as sad as it sounds sometimes will head to the room at the LUXOR and watch the Virgin 747 400 arrive or takeoff its a stunning sight, but never get to the see the BA Aircraft depart as its dark by then.. This AC is more suited for this route as its just nice to get up and walk about freely within the cabin.. BA has two versions of 747-400 if we use BA in sept for the LAS flight we will fly PE.. now where will this cabin be situated ?

When BA introduce the 744 to the LAS-LHR route the flight will depart from LAS 25 minutes later (at 0845 pm) than the current 772 flight.

how come why so late ? we always fly the Virgin one because it leaves Las Vegas at at 1630 which is a decent time after checking out of the LUXOR at 1130-1200 so if the BA flight is at 845 pm what do u do all that time when ur checked out of the hotel lol.. do you know what the premium economy cabin is like on this 747 400 used for this route and where it is ?

Does the B744 take payload penalties out of somewhere like LAS when it's 45C? Sounds like they're taking off at 2045 but still it's probably going to be over 40C at that time in June, July and August.

Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.

I'm pretty certain you can walk around on a 777, I've been lucky enough to do it myself

I believe in the summer months it's due to eb a 52 seat Club cabin so I think that means the WTP cabin will be behind Club World

I'm sure you can guess....... hell, you might even win enough money to u/g to First at the check-in desk

WTP has been the same for the last 9 years or so alhtough it has been given a revamp on the new 773's. Whether this is rolled out to the 74's before the summer I have no idea but I'd be taking a guess on it not happening. The current BA WTP cabin looks like this: http://www.britishairways.com/travel...raveller-plus-seating/public/en_us
Not a great bit of info but it has 38 inches seat pitch, 17.5 inch wide seat and no more than 40 seats in the cabin (although more on the 773), standard check-in and economy meals.
I'm not too sure if BA have upgraded the service to hot towels and pre-departure drink but I'm sure someone in the know can advise

There's flying and then there's flying

I don't believe the BA flights to LAS (or PHX as a comparable) are heavy cargo markets, show payload penalties should be at a minimum. Also, all heat-related penalties on all carriers to the two cities tend to take place during the afternoon/early evening when the sun is beaming bright.

Are there any VLA charters to Las Vegas? I once swore ( about 8 years ago) a VARIG 767 on take off. But I was too far to be sure.

7L has a TODA of 15,099 with a 1.1% downgrade, which allows basically anything to get off the ground with required loads with no problem. 1.1% may not sound like much but it is just over 130 feet elevation change from end to end.

Yes on VLA. I have seen MD-11's ( although perhaps no longer) and 747's and 767's in liveries I didn't know. Like a Brazilian travel company called CNA has 767's to Orlando and other destinations w large Brazilian tour groups.

Correct. BA will operate the 744 from the 1st June. On the same day they will commence operations to SAN using the freed up 772

It will be a mid-J 744 and WTP is sandwiched between main cabin club world and First.

There are no plans for 747 fleet to get the new WTP. They will get a "soft" upgrade .... New cushions and blankets!!!!!
But no new seat.

They actually have the new furnishings already on the 747... a dark brown headrest and pillow cover and blanket... not my cup of tea really as it makes the cabin seem darker

Will probably still use the VS043 out of London gatwick as the flight times are 100% spot on least you get another afternoon having flown for 10h and 50m or so then straight out into the hotel shower and out into vegas, Its seems silly having flown for 10-11 hours or so to arrive there so late where you feel shattered you just want to sleep its a waste of day lol.. plus the PREMIUM ECONOMY product is pleasing much larger seats and a ride in the 744's upper deck subject to availability

I saw the new cabin dressing in Y and Y+ and in my opinions it does look a lot more contemporary, but I think they should increase the size of the pillows in Y+ and maybe introduce pre take off juice/water.
