While the Premier of Queensland was inspecting flood-affected areas, plane in which she and the man tasked with the relief effort were flying was struck by lightning.
Non one was injured but there was some damage to the aircraft. According to the report,
Quote: Two static wicks on both wings were destroyed, but the engines and navigation equipment continued to work and the plane landed without incident at Brisbane airport around 2:30pm.

Think about how many other aircraft flying today were struck by lightning. Why did we hear about this one? Who would have reported it to the press? Probably someone from the Premier's office in order to create some favourable publicity - ie...to the ill-informed public it seemed like she risked her life visiting flood stricken areas. Sounds like a bit of publicity grab to be in times of upcoming elections....

Quoting flykal (Reply 1): Why did we hear about this one?
Because an important person was on the flight? It's news regardless of your opinion on it... No sensationalism, just reporting news.
