Never seen an American MD-80 at SJU before yesterday, January 11th. It was parked backwards, tail towards the terminal, I believe by gate 3 or 4. The only picture I was able to get was from my hotel balcony, and is just too far to make out a registration. On our taxi out, 3 PM or so local, it was still there. Anyone have any information about what it was doing there?

Don't know why that particular aircraft is there, but I remember when TWA started bringing MD-80s into SJU when they were building their focus city there. Used to get 1 from STL and it would continue on to one of the Caribbean islands. Parked next to our inbound 762, which was an upguage from the scheduled 757 from JFK.
