Today Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic Airways jointly filed for the DOT to enter into a code-share agreement.

Based on the application, the carriers plan to do the following:
a) Air NZ to carry VS code on services between 1) New Zealand and the United States, 2) United States and European Union 3) between NZ or US to any 3rd country points that hold open-skies agreements.
b) Virgin Atlantic to carry NZ code between 1) EU and points in the United States 2) EU or United States to any 3rd country that holds open skies with the US or EU.

NZ and DJ have recently entered into a Trans-Tasman codeshare agreement. Doesn't necessarily mean anything with Star*

I sure hope so!

Also glad to see VS and NZ stepping even closer to each other. They're both fantastic airlines!

Sounds to me this code-share was very much in works and part of the greater NZ strategy of buying into sister Virgin Blue at the same time.
