Quick heads up, in the UK tonight Channel Five is showing a documentary on the BA flight where to cockpit window failed at 17,000ft and the pilot was almost sucked out.Quick thinking by the co pilot saved him.Last for 1 hr, first time shown.

Isn't this an episode of Mayday (on NGC aired as "Air crash investogators")?

Yeah, it's probably the same one that first aired around 2005. I doubt there are two documentaries on the same incident.

The aircraft landed at Southampton.
The TV Guide here says that it has not been shown in the UK before.

I think this is an edited version of the Air Crash Investigation episode, from the adverts it looks like it uses the exact same graphics but probably has a different voice over and maybe different interviews from the crew and other people who were involved. That's the only way I can see Channel Five claiming it has never been shown in the UK.

The two cabin crew who broke their own limbs while holding onto him during the descent and landing may also assisted in saving the captain.

I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

I don't know about you but the title of this thread certainly had me thinking in the gutter. BA pilot sucked from cockpit - hmmm!

In all seriousness a pretty amazing story. Had the DVD recorder set to tape it last night whilst I'm away.

I hadn't but now you've said it I see what you mean.

An interesting documentary anyway, and I'm sure it has been on before. Available here if anyone has missed it:

It's a very interesting documentary. I have seen it before but it never ceases to amaze me that the same captain went back to flying the 1-11. I'll bet he never took off the two shoulder straps again.
