TCX Tunisia Re-patriation Flights

Due to the rioting in Tunisia Thomas Cook (UK) have started to repatriate passengers due to come home on Sunday.

The flights are listed as the following -

TCX001R MIR 1210 MAN 1430
TCX002R MIR 1240 MAN 1500
TCX003R MIR 1350 LGW 1555
TCX006R MIR 1635 MAN 1840
TCX004R MIR 1640 MAN 1900
TCX005R MIR 1715 LGW 1935

My question is where have TCX got the aircraft from at such short notice? Their own metal or have they subchartered?

If you could list the aircraft and airline operating next to the flights that'd be great!

A mixture of both perhaps. It's Winter season and even with some aircraft leased out to Canada, Hadj etc, the fleet will still have a fair bit of downtime.

Also Air France has cancelled flights and im sure others will follow. German and French Tour operators also. Its a very popular Winter destination hence the numbers out there affected. Tunisian air space is also closed. Tunisian Army has taken control of airports.

Extra Air Berlin and Germania were programmed as well. The airspace is open, but many delays and cancellations.

Thomson and First Choice are also repatriating all of their 1500 or so guests back on Sat 15th.

One TOM 757 is already back, having done a split drop from MIR to MAN and LGW.

All flights from Tunis Airport are delayed. Only one Sevenair flight has left to Djerba this morning.

BA, AZ, LH, AB and AF have cancelled their flights to Tunisia. AT is still operating.

Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

There's a TU flight from TUN due to arrive at AMS, currently estimated 5,5 hours behind of schedule.

QR operated flights normally yesterday, and arrived and departed on time. However, today, the flight is still listed as SCHEDULED despite already passing the departure date from DOH. I think today's flight is cancelled. Im not sure about Tomorrow's flight.

Quite interesting really. I wonder what impact the additional flights had on their crew hours. Charter staffing levels must be pretty low at winter even if they have the metal to operate the flights.

Saturday from LGW is the busiest day of the week, so it is a wonder that they found the space for the flights. Saying that, it did create some knock on delays on some flights.

When disruption occurs, they pull staff in on standby and on days off to help cover the rostas.

If they can managed disruption recovery from the snow disruption, a few extra flights is a breeze!

Thomas Cook Belgium is also bringing customers back over the week-end, as is Jetairfly. They're using a mixture of already-scheduled flights (going empty on the outbound) and extra flights.
