I knew about their ex 747 10 years ago! My best bet will be to Europe, and North America and South East Asia. All I know is that their 747 was the work horse of their fleet and was rarely seen at airports.

Gulf Air leased two 747-200's, the first was N203AE (Leased from MEA), from 1985-1986, the second aircraft LN-AET (Leased from SAS) was used from 1986-1987.
These aircraft were operated on the Bahrain-Bangkok service aswell as flights to India and Sri Lanka.
In 1985 I was due to fly Bahrain-Abu Dhabi on the GF 747, but the aircraft was changed at the last minute to a 737, for some reason. I believe the 747's were leased in to provide additional capacity to the L-1011's, which were the airlines long-haul aircraft at the time.
Both 747's were returned to their owners after their short spell with Gulf Air, I think that N203AE is now a freighter, but not entirely sure.
Interestingly I have a T-Shirt that was specially designed when the 747 LN-AET was in service, it has a 747 caricature on the front, with the tagline 'I flew ET' on the back.
