There was no Airplane 3; Airplane 2 was the spaceflight one with William Shatner (?); the Zucker brothers, responsible for Airplane has no involvement in this. The first one was rated in a special issue of Empire (a very good movie mag) as one of the funniest films ever made.
Apparently, it has more jokes per minute than any other film; I love it; I really must take it out on video again sometime.

Wow Airplane was so funny I watch over and over cause they play it sometimes on satillite. Airplane 2 was also good. I'm not sure and Airplane 3 maybe they thought about making it, but then scrapped the idea.

i dont ever believe there was an airplane 3... i dont want to start shooting out movie lines or anything but my fav is: (leslie Neilson) "there is a problem in the cockpit", (Julia Hagerty) "cockpit what is it?" (LN) "its the room in the front of the plane that the pilots sit, but thats not important now." (Airplane 1) great movie!!!!

I wish there was an Airplane 3. Part one is one of the best films ever. Remember the posters in the terminal advertising other airlines (Air India was it?) with a picture of a burning plane? Love it. Hot Shots was good too I thought.....Police Squad...now that was funny!!
