Wish JetBlue can do that already! Theyre wasting time!

If theyre a huge market, then they got to wake up and apply for the routes.(JetBlue im talking about). Even if im a big fan of JetBlue,im a agressive one for jetBlue.

Not by any measure, especially when given a choice, people prefer MEX by far.

Isn't Toluca, in addition to its catchment area, also an alternative airport for MEX?

I can't speak for NY, but from the Mexican side, the wealthiest area of metro-MEX is closer to TLC than MEX....and boy do they looove NY.

Yes, but given said alternative, most still seem to prefer MEX.

Correct, MaverickM11 is right.

I mean, both MEX and TLC have pros and cons if you live or work in the west side, but I think MEX has the advantage. Going to or from TLC is cool if you have someone (chauffeur, spouse, friend) to take you there or pick you up. It is not fun paying a taxi to or from TLC. And yeah, Volaris and Interjet have buses and vans, respectively, but you still need to get a cab from their stops (the Interjet van leaves from/arrives to the Sheraton Suites in Santa Fe and the Antara shopping center in Polanco, and the Volaris bus leaves from/arrives to its own shuttle central in Santa Fe) to your final destination. I once took a cab from TLC to my place in Polanco in the evening. It was not only super expensive (think EWR-Manhattan), but really horrible because there was something going on in the highway, so the usual 45 minute ride became a 2 hour experience from hell.

On the other hand, TLC is like a bus station. There are no lounges (maybe I am wrong), no shopping... just no fun. I can only see TLC as a good option if you are in Santa Fe or Cuajimalpa, you are flying out during rush hour (as in you need to be at the airport at 3 or 4 p.m. on a Friday or so) and know you might not have enough time after your meetings or whatever in Santa Fe/Bosques de las Lomas to get to MEX on time.

If TLC were that desirable for the wealthy inhabitants and the businesspeople of Western Mexico City, you would have AM flying from TLC to MTY, GLD, TLC, MIA, JFK, etc. and we would not be seeing Interjet and Volaris moving a substantial chunk of their operations to MEX.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

Could they apply? Would it influence the "2 carriers on each side serving the route" rule?
Does that route apply on the NYC area? If not, why doesn't Jetblue fly JFK-MEX/TLC?

Could we see airlines flying MEX/TLC-JFK/EWR other than AM, CO, DL & MX (Eventually)?
Could Y4/IJ apply for EWR?

Thanks,

-Aeolus

Let me guess, they are going to call it Mexico City. NK really is the Ryanair of North America... not that there is anything wrong with that.

My opinion is: MEX=Mexico City in the Bilateral Agreement. I do not think that TLC is counted in the agreement. So,therefore, Jetblue can apply for the route authority of JFK-TLC. Question is..when are they going to do it? Also, I read an article not too long ago, that was made a couple years ago and it stated that JetBlue expressed interested in Guadalajara and Toluca from NYC and IAD.

Now, the question is: Whats the status on their interest in those two cities? Will they proceed to apply for those routes?

NK will be succesful in TLC, and they will begin a new trend, so watch this space as you will see TLC being served by all these American LCC (B6, FL, etc)

Where do you make up your facts? The market, like most TLC-U.S, is tiny.

The application is only for twice weekly service, so even Spirit recognizes its a small niche.

Yes, that is true. Just like what we saw with SFO-FLL. B6 announced the route right after VX did. But i think its B6's territory(Latin America & The Caribbean). I hope B6 announces TLC sometime soon.

B6's territory? As compared to Spirit?

Spirit flies to far more cities in the region than JetBlue.

JetBlue is very strong in the Caribbean, but Spirit flies to more cities in just Colombia (5) than JetBlue does to in all of Latin America (3).

Yes,thats true. But I do believe that JetBlue is going to expand more in Central and South America pretty soon. The number of Latin American destinations that JetBlue has will be equal to the amount of Latin American destination that Spirit has..in the next few years. So, they will both be on the top soon.
