UAE News Digest

The UAE Emirates Airlines will be the first air-carrier to buy U.S. plane maker Boeing's Sonic Cruiser after its launch scheduled for 2007, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and chief executive officer Alan Mullaly said. An Emirates Airlines delegation visited the Boeing factory in Seattle, USA, to discuss cooperation opportunities. The new cruiser will fly just under the speed of sound, which will cut flight time from Dubai to London by one hour.

Is this the same as a launch customer? Does this make the Sonic Cruiser project any more likely to happen?

Good article about the SC's intake/engine layout in this week's Flight International, with a thought-provoking editorial too.

www.rati.com contains the full text of Flight International and Airline Business since 1996. I had a quick look, you have to be a suscriber to access it.
Apparently Flight's text is also found at the following; Lexis-Nexis, Dialogue, FT Profile, IAC and Reuters.
