I am planning a trip to NZ this fall and wonder how ANZ´s service/seating is nowadays.
In the early 1990´s I flew LGW-LAX-AKL v.v. on ZK-NBU and ZK-NBS respectively. The 744s was in the old P16/J36/Y384 configuration and with great legroom (I guess 34") in Economy.
I have heard the ANZ is not that generous with the seat pitch in Economy any more, but from the seat maps I have been able to locate it seems that the main cabin is still with the same number of Economy seats - exept for the former forward 60 Economy seats now being 28 Business Class seats. Can anybody confirm this??
Any info on ANZ´s LHR-LAX-AKL v.v. would be appriciated.

Depends on how early in the 90's you flew with them - they haven't changed since the Pacific Wave upgrades. Still definitely 34" - the best across the Pac. As far as service, depends on the crew you get on the day as to how that will pan out. Still offer the 2 full meals - no PTV in Y, just the main screens so use the eye shades if light bothers you when sleeping.
Cheers. Al.

The 744's now seat 392 all up 12P, 56J and 324Y and I think there is good leg room in them. Yes the front section of economy in the early 90's is now 28 bussiness class!
Mikey is definatly right this flight is usually packed.
I flew ZK-NBU in OCT "99" BNE AKL and NBT AKL-BNE love that Rolls Royce Power!

The actual flying on Air New Zealand is brilliant - just don't expect much when you're in transit at LAX. Their transit lounge their is miserable and the AirNZ LAX ground staff not much better. But you'll forget about that once you step on board your flight to AKL. Enjoy!
