After searching the world for an airline to take over lease obligations for the Roots Air A330's; C-FRAE & C-FRAV, Khalifa Airways of Algiers has signed a five year agreement for both aircraft. The type will be the first 330's in the Khalifa Fleet and will allow for expansion and partial replacement of their current A300's. RAV is already painted and will depart Dusseldorf (where it was resprayed) next week for Algiers. RAE is still in Toronto awaiting re-config etc.
Any of the SSV Cabin Crew on the Forum going to Algiers for setup and training??

You got it Hkgspotter1! RAE was done up in full Roots Air livery but did not fly a revenue flight. All Roots flights were cancelled before RAE ever had chance to fly. RAV never even made it to Canada. It was stored temporarily at Toulouse then ferried to Dusseldorf for refit and paint. Glad to see the aircraft have a new life ahead for them.

Good news for Khalifa airways then! The airpline is expecting to receive an agreement from the ADP CDG airport for an eventual service between Algiers and Paris> They have already 25 Aircrafts A300C,A310.3,A320,B737.4,B737.8,A319 (leased from LH),ATR42/72 and 18 new aircrafts delivery due to 2004 which A340.500 and A330.3 are part of the deal. And for the last news Air Algerie and Khalifa are expecting to open a new route between North America and Algiers for this summer! I have to mention that Khalifa is training his own staff and flight crew at Oxford Academy, more than 200 students has been send from algiers to London for a complete training (pilot etc) all paid by the company. If anyone of you has at least a private pilot or any Airman licence ,should take the chance to get into the airline and have the rest of your training paid ( on Airbus). That's what many people did, they actually need pilots...100 pilots from Air Algerie has left the airline to join Khalifa because of a hight monthly payment check!!

One mistake. The A330-300 was not resprayed in Dusseldorf! It is not possible here. For respraying LTU (the ex-owner of the jet) send the jet to Hamburg! After the new look they did the last technical check at Halle 8 in Dusseldorf.
