Saw the below posting on the DMN Aviation Blog. What a change in tone from the APA. Let's hope APA and AA are able to reach a deal on a new contract soon.

One thing that jumped out at me: Bates, elected in July 2010 to replace Lloyd Hill for a three-year term, said the union has so many contract items on the table that the union's current negotiating team estimates it would take over 12 years to wrap up contract talks at the current pace.

Very refreshing. Will be interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets from the APA rank and file.

""We told the whole world that we didn't know or care how much our demands cost. We said we didn't care what was going on with the economy or with the corporation's economics. We didn't consult with professional negotiators. We abandoned working within established industry protocols and severed ties with management.""

I'm surprised this guy hasn't been run out of town already.

Much of what he said could apply to some other unions I could think of. You know who you are.
