Since Mauritania Airways was reported to have been disbanded at the end of last year, there have been various news snippets suggesting the national airline's impending reincarnation as Mauritania Airlines International. Then a few months ago two pictures of a 737-500 aircraft in their new colours appeared on this site:
So, at least two planes in their new livery and a fleet of 3-4 737 aircraft, yet apparently no news on an official start-up date or any potential routes/frequencies? Maybe I'm missing something, because this has me intrigued. I know things move slowly in Africa, but you normally get news of the grand and ambitious plans which carriers possess long before they get their hands on the actual metal to operate anything at all. This is the opposite; they already have a bunch of aircraft, but seemingly no plans!
Any information on them would be appreciated, I'm planning on flying them later this year if anything materialises.
