Another new European city for QR! The continent seems to be a gold mine for them!

Quoting Pe@rson (Reply 2): Currently, the only other operator to the Middle East, with connections beyond, is Emirates, with a daily, 343-operated service.
EK has served VCE for years now. Was always surprised they went for it before the obvious gateways like AMS and MAD, but, I guess pioneering an exclusive secondary market like this is evidence of their out of the box thinking that makes them so profitable!

Quoting QatarA340 (Reply 4): and Im hoping for Berlin and Stuttgart as well.
I think the B787 or the A358 whatever is the replacement for the A330 will be used. QR has been serving TXL for 6 years or so but the expansion is pretty calculative. They do send in A330s when required, but the schedule still indicates an A320.

Quoting JoKeR (Reply 8): Do you have any idea if new Eastern European cities may be added soon like PRG, BEG or SOF? QR can definitely do them "well" with A320s...
Apparently the last year has seen a massive expansion in Europe and the next "spell" of expansion would be focused more in Asia, Africa and the Americas. I suppose it would be quite some time before we see anything new happening in Europe.

Dont forget Iraq, Iran (Shiraz, Esfahan), Cyprus are all underserved.
They always wanted to go for Serbia, Prague, possible A320 destinations. NEO anyone?
Ojas, I was wondering how TXL is doing??? Can it warrant a daily A330?

Quoting ojas (Reply 11): It can, by 2011 end the connectivity to Asia via DOH will drastically improve thus making sense for a A330 on the route.
And the more successfully LH can keep EK out of Berlin (or delay its arrival), the more effectively QR can entrench itself. Does LH codeshare with QR to/from Berlin?

Quite surprising, a combination of tourists and a few business people on this route I suppose. I would have guessed 20 different cities before this one however!

Quoting QatarA340 (Reply 4): Im sure Bucharest and Budapest will be delinked, upped to daily A320 each.
Venice might be upgraded to A330, and Im hoping for Berlin and Stuttgart as well.
I would hope Budapest would be upgraded to a A330, it's very off-putting if you are paying J class fares and nearly half your journey is in a recliner on an A320, currently about 6 hours via Bucharest.
I would rather fly to another Euro city at least they have proper lie-flats all the way then and connect there.

Quoting QatarA340 (Reply 1): I guess we wont see Florence any time soon!
The runway at Florence is not only short (similar to that of LCY) but there's also a mountain range nearby which hampers take-off performance.

VCE is not just about tourism. The Veneto region on the mainland boasts wealthy cities like Verona, Vicenza and Padua. I can see why EK started its service because it gives Italian exporters easier access (via DXB) to developing Asian markets.
