Well, I just got back from downunder and will soon come to posting a trip report.
As I unpacked yesterday, I came across a gift card for Barnes and Nobles that someone gave me for graduation. So I was hoping to get recommendations from you guys n gals...
I'm looking for a nice book on airliners, something with lots of great photos and that is scant on talk. Something like a coffee table book for all to view and be interested in. Please throw your suggestions this way. Thanks.

"Hard Landing" by Wall Street Journal reporter Thomas Petzinger, is an excellent history of the airline industry in the US, especially the post-deregulation years. It's detailed, yet written in an engaging narrative format that makes it easy to read and tough to put down. I got it at Borders for about 20 bucks.

thanks for your suggestions thus far. Actually, I was hoping for a book full of images of planes, more of a photographic essay, if you will. Something I can place in my office for patients to marvel at in only 15 minutes time while waiting.
please send me more ideas and thanks again

Mirrodie: Check out Barnes and Noble's website and search under airliners. It gives you a very large choice of some good books they offer. It also gives you reviews about them

Don't know if you're talking about novels or informational books. If you're asking about novels, Airframe by Michael Cricton is pretty good.- Sorry if I spelled his last name wrong.

Perhaps my suggestion at the top.
It's about $25.
It's something even non-aviation enthusiest would get excited about reading.
Everyone can relate to it especially if you have older clients who can remember the good ol' days of flying!

Superfly: That one was great and right up my alley. I'm already going to pick that one up. Just looking for other suggestions. Thanks
VglAtl747 : I am looking for neither. What I am looking for is a book for the coffee table. For instance, one of my older acquisitions was a book simply titled Madagascar. In it there are only captions describing the photos of the lush scenery, the culture and the endemic wildlife.
So as far as planes go, I was hoping to find something full of photos. Mostly eye candy.
Thanks. (as for the novels, I leave that to my girlfriend! She loves Cricton)

I got this book about the B747-400 form Barnes and Nobles. It is by Peter Gilchrist and is from the series Airliner Color History. It is a really good book and has some marvellous pictures. It has everything from Design to Production List. I think they also have a book on the B777. An excellent book and not very expensive either.
