Is there much O&D, i.e. local, traffic between Lisbon area and Bamako? Or is it principally a connection-based service? For example, ORY-LIS-BKO is 2,702 miles as the crow flies against 2,584 for CDG-BKO non-stop - not much difference.
If ACC starts, I presume this will be mainly for connecting passengers in particular from LON (LHR/LGW)? In terms of connecting via LIS, LHR-ACC is 3,160 miles against 3,323 via LIS - again, not much difference.
To me, it appears that TP is utilising its geographic position on the periphery of Europe for connections to Brazil - which is obvious - and to a growing degree (and beyond Sao Tome, Bissau and Cape Verde, for example, with their Portuguese background) to West Africa. I just hope that services like BKO (and ACC if it happens) aren't overly reliant on connecting passengers, for there should be a balance of traffic.

Very good move from TP and STAR which are very innovative and it seems they have understood the importance of Africa... Same could not be said of BA/IB and OneWorld.

Fantastic to see TAP expanding elsewhere than in Brazil. TAP has a good deal of experience, much like SN, in African operations, and should make more use of this advantage than they have over the past years.

It is a great move as the only services to Europe are with Air France/Aigle Azur-Paris and Spanair-Barcelona
Maybe they will increase from 3 to 5 times a week as soon as the bookings pick up, as not very flexible with only 3 flights a week...
Accra will be another great destination- If confirmed!
Both routes will have high yeild traffic...
