Was just reading in the paper that Boeing is taking advantage of our cold snap to do some cold weather testing in Fairbanks, a friend said he was able to get some good shots of the planes.

I recall some ten years ago when a Air Force Galaxy C-5A transport landed in JNU for the first time. A considerable segment of the population lined the airport perimeter fence to watch it land. I remember thinking how it dwarfed AS 737 when they taxied near it and the engine thrust shaking the windows of the federal bldg when it departed down Gastineau channel.

Thought the 787 had already done cold-soak testing in that facility in Florida. Are they going up there just for the heck of it (it's flight testing, might as well challenge the plane), or do they have to re-do some of the testing because of the electronic upgrades?

I was wondering the same thing. The test pilot was was interviewed for the CO/UA publicity video when the plane visited IAH said they were headed to FAI to do cold weather testing, so it isn't just for the heck of it. Anyone know what specific tests they'll be doing in FAI?

Maybe its just easier to do take-offs and landings outdoors.
