Air Europa recently notified the Dirección General de Aviación Civil de Ecuador (DGAC) that the carrier plans on launching services into Ecuador this November. The SkyTeam carrier plans on operating the MAD-UIO-GYE-MAD route 3x weekly with the B763. UX will be the third carrier that offers non-stop flights between Spain and Ecuador.

This is good news.... Although it is not the first time UX will be flying to Ecuador. They tried it some years ago, but due to some stiff competition and really bad decisions (they decided to code shared with Air Madrid and let them take over the route, and that airline was a total fisco), they ended up leaving the market for low cost carriers which are now defunct (Air Madrid and AirComet).

So anyways, hope they can keep the route working, because there is enough traffic for a third carrier on the route no doubt. It will be a good compliment for Skyteam to offer more direct routes to-from Europe to Latin America.

Its good news because it will lead to lower fares on the route and LAN Ecuador will most likely respond by increasing frequency on the UIO-GYE-MAD route. UX is slowly expanding its operations in South America and will soon operate the MAD-LIM route daily.

I would be interested to know your source.
It's just that a very old news, from when UX announced that it was going to operate flights to Ecuador has resurfaced, and it has the same characteristics as your info, with start date, frequency and equipment.

I am thus sceptical.
