Hi All,
Qantaslink have recently taken delivery of a NEW Q400, however I've noticed a new registration has been allocated VH-LQB...?
I understand the VH-QO... register is full but why start a new register with VH-LQB skipping VH-LQA?

VH-LQB is confirmed and I understand that she has had a troubled introduction, going U/S after the first service it operated.

Can't explain the new rego sequence, must have been what was available I suppose.

Jupiter2,
That's correct the aircraft had a terrible start on her first day going u/s... The aircraft was suppose to operate a SYD-CFS sector...

What happened? Isn't she made of the same stuff that the other Q400s are made of? Is this a first Q400NG for QantasLink?

As far as I know it she is the same as all the other Q400 aircraft in the QFLink fleet...
These technical issues always occur with NEW aircraft...

VH-LQA is a Socata TB-20 Trinidad as per http://casa-query.funnelback.com/sea...n=casa_aircraft_register&query=LQA

So are -LQC and -LQE, while -LQI and -LQZ are Cessna 182s, -LQP is an amateur built aircraft, -LQS and -LQX are Cessna O-1s, -LQV is a Cessna 150, -LQW is a Cessna 152, and -LQN and -LQU are Robinson R22s.

I wonder what the significance was behind the choice the -LQ series, given it is already fairly populated?

From the information in your post the VH-LQ_ series had 14 registrations available. VH-LQB is the first of the latest order of seven aircraft making a total of 28 Q400's. Seven registrations in the LQ_ series would remain.

The significance of the LQ_ series could be that QF is not expecting to have more than 35 Q400's.
