Saw an Air Berlin A330 arrive at Oakland today. Thought it was a diversion from SFO but it stayed for about 3 hours and then appeared to head back to Europe. Just checked it on flight aware and this seems to confirm this. Does anyone have any info on what was going on? Charter I assume?

Is it possible for Air Berlin to move from SFO to OAK? Hardly likely from an old LTU route.

The AB flight into SFO is only seasonal. Starts, I believe, in May. This was a charter flight, will find out tomorrow what the charter was for.

Quoting DABVK (Reply 4): Air Berlin flew the "Wiener Philharmoniker" to Oakland from DUS.
Ah, you beat me. Yes AB 1000 flew in the Wiener Philharmoniker to perform in various cities in California.
