Hi All

Was on the BHX website recently and noticed that the Aviation Experiance has closed and that something new is being planned.

Does anyone have any ideas what is planned to replace it? Something along the lines of MAN would be ncie - lol

Thanks

Stephen

Well according to: http://www.ukaccs.info/bham/230211it4.pdf

The Aviation Experience closed on 26 January 2011, when the operating company went into liquidation. A new area for viewing aircraft at the Airport is being established, within Long Stay Car Park 1 and adjacent to the perimeter fence overlooking the airfield.

Hope this answers your question!

So they're going to put it back where the spotter's field was in the first place then, hopefully they will use MAN as a model for what they put there. Long stay 1 is usually full of people with cameras, binoculars, and scanners anyway so it seems the sensible place to establish a proper viewing area.

The old "fishtank" in the terminal was way out of date for viewing, it was fine in the late 80s but with the growth at BHX it was getting difficult to be able to see anything at all.

True,. but browsing the shop was always amusing, and of course making use of the old BA Club World seats if one was tired and weary was always nice!

Most airports offer so little of this kind of facility that it made Birmingham somewhat special!

At least the old location was inside! I don't fancy standing out doors in the winter!

A pity to lose this facility.

There are so few.
