"An official says the terminal at Birmingham's airport has been shut down because of a suspicious package."

Hardly a TSA "breach"

EDIT- And it's not just Concourse C. The entire airport has been shut down according to the link

BHM C concourse was shut down around 1630 local time due to a suspicios package left. In a valeted. Car in front of the terminal. TSA checkpoint on C was shut down; however, flights were still arriving and departing.

For those of you not lucky enough to fly out of BHM, the airport authority has allowed a valet service to leave cars on the departures level of the airport. Having worked in BHM, this was always a concern for security, but the AA never would believe us.

Passengers were evacuated from the councorse as well. Inbound passengers were not allowed to pick up baggage for approx. 3 hours.

The tower, nor Airport Authority knew what was going on. BHM bomb squad still has not determined what was left in the valet car glove compartment.

As soon as I hear anything else, I will pass it along.

I apologize in advance... Typing on a BB.

Typical inept leadership on all levels in Birmingham.

I didn't know this was still available, but you are right this is a major issue when it comes to security.

From what I have heard...

The passenger who had this in his car apparently was licensed to carry this type "device". The passenger called the valet attendant while he was boarding his trip to LAS on WN, and informed the attendant that he had this in his car, and wanted them to move it to the glove compartment so it didn't cause any suspicion.

Also, from what I was told, the passenger worked for Extreme Makeover (i guess a TV show). Of course, this was what was told to everyone, but no official communication from the airport or BHM police has come out about this story.

Since then, the airport authority has made NO announcements concerning this. The BAA, FBI, ATF, or any other involved party has not said one word about this.

These statements are my opinion and not that of my employer.
