Hello fellow Airliners.net fans,

Please pardon the terrible 'cell phone' quality of the following pictures. I just wanted to share that February's last day brought the New Alaska/Horizon Q-400 to LAX today!! She was surrounded by fellow nerds... I mean, Airliner fanatics, taking pictures.

In my personal opinion, they should bring a Retro Horizon Q-400 before the whole fleet gets repainted.

Any thoughts?

Hoping the 797 will have 3 or more holes. I can dream, can't I?!?

Thanks for the more upclose and personal views of it!! I couldn't agree more that a retro scheme would look AMAZING on the Q400!

AS announced they will keep the College colors, and the "Green" colors on the Q400s. Will they also keep the Horizon 25th Anniversary paint on that airplane? That wasn't mentioned.

But yeah, a retro painted Q would be nice too.

Horizon has stated that they will not paint a retro-prop in their original colorscheme because of lack of brand-recognition and other reasons.

It really is too bad, a retro Q400 would have looked incredible! I was dearly hoping that N434MK would receive this treatment.

I am so sad to say, that it has been confirmed by QX that the 25th Anniversary Q400 or "Skittles" will be repainted.    Unfortunately, I can see their reasoning on this, as their 30th anniversary is upon them.
So a 25th anniversary plane would behardly relevant. Still, it is one of my favorite paint schemes of all time, and it will be tragic to see it go.

A lack of brand recognition? They already are ditching the Horizon paint, why not just have 1 out there in retro colors? As if PSA and other US Airways retros are really well known today?

If what flyPBA writes is true, that would be too sad.

TAM from Brazil recently painted some of their narrow-bodies Jets in retro colors that had only made it onto Turbo-props... Who knew their brand outside specific cities in Brazil then?

I hope they change their mind.

Yes, sadly, this is true. Though I wonder if maybe, someday down the road. Maybe they will change their minds about this when they have more time to establish that the Horizon brand is gone. It might be too soon, and I can see how it would confuse costumers as this just happened. I have no idea what the likeliness of this ever happening is, though.

Well, it's still a Q400, so it's going to look good naturally, but those colors just don't belong.
